This place is a must if you come to Philly. They have two Giorgio on Pine and Giorgio on Pine 2 and the two are fantastic, the quality of the food is amazing, if you are looking for authentic Italian place you need to come. Make sure to do your reservation. The ambiance and service are amazing.
Giorgio on Pine was AMAZING! This was some of the best Italian food i've tried in the city. I went with a basic spaghetti a la vodka while my partner went with one of the specials: lobster ravioli. Both of them were to die for. The appetizers were okay. We had the sausage and calamari. The service was also just okay. It's pretty cramped in there and not at all intimate. Because of this, I could tell that the waitress was flustered trying to get to everyone in the room. Overall, the food was great and it is definitely worth it to go, but not for something that's intimate-- definitely good for a friend group gathering.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Philly. You'll definitely need a reservation. They tend to book up quickly. The sweet potato gnocchi is to die for! It's so creamy, flavorful, and just melts in your mouth. They also provide complimentary fresh bread and olive oil, which is rare in Philly! The atmosphere is cute, quaint, and has a European feel. The staff is also very attentive and helpful. You will not be disappointed in the food. Highly recommend.
Came here for a company dinner. There were six of us and it was pretty crowded, but we all enjoyed the food! I picked the lobster ravioli as many reviews mentioned it, and WOW it was good. This place is BYOB with no corkage fee.
Time and time again, this place never disappoints. The service is always incredible, the food is always delicious and the experience is always memorable. I've dined here at least 5x and everything stays consistent. I took my dad here for his birthday and he is still raving about the food and how great Giorgio was. We ordered the mussels and clams as our app and that may have been the best thing I ate that night. The broth was we made with cognac and cream. A bit of sweetness and absolutely addicting. I wanted to soak all the bread in that sauce. We both ordered the specials for our entree. I got the branzino and my dad got the Parmesan crusted pork chop. My branzino was cooked perfectly, was light and packed a lot of flavors. My dad's pork chop was enormous and rich with flavor. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu which never disappoints. This is a great restaurant and one of the best in Philly. It is always a full house, tight and loud so keep that in mind. If that environment is not for you, do take out! Highly recommend this place!
Giorgio's is fantastic! A small, neighborhood-style Italian restaurant with excellent food. Portions are huge so come hungry and BYOB! The service was very fast with friendly waitstaff who know the menu well and will make recommendations. It gets busy so definitely make a reservation ahead of time. We will be back!!
Giorgio's is a great reminder of old-school Italian restaurant consistent food every time fabulous service no rushing you out the door. So glad we returned. We haven't been back in quite some time tonight we start off with grilled sweet sausage very flavorful combination of sausage with mozzarella over what looks like spinach leaves. For our main courses, my wife had the linguine and clams and absolutely devoured them, and I had to veal with spinach . Review was very tender I accompany him by the spinach and roasted potatoes all in all really good meal
FOOD We ordered the sweet potato gnocchi and the gnocchi a la vodka. The servings were humungous, and there was definitely space to take food home for the next day. The sweet potato gnocchi itself was very chewy and decadent, but the sauce was admittedly on the blander side than what I would have expected it to be. I also emphasize the decadent part heavily, as a third way through, I had to bring the rest home. The gnocchi a la vodka (off-menu item) was to die for. The sauce was the perfect ratio of tart and creamy, and it's a dish I'd definitely return to next time. SERVICE The service was FANTASTIC. We had a reservation for 8:30pm and had to wait an extra 45 minutes. Nevertheless, the host and Giorgio himself checked in on all the parties waiting outside frequently. The waitstaff were also so kind and friendly. The prices outside the storefront and online do not match the prices listed on the menu inside. Besides desserts which have been raised a dollar, all other items have been raised ~$3-5 per dish. Despite the listed $18.75 gnocchi dishes outside the storefront and online, the price was actually $22. All desserts increased to ~$8.00-8.50. AMBIANCE The atmosphere is so warm and cozy, it felt like I was having dinner at a friend's or family's house. You can see people visiting to celebrate all kinds of things-- whether it's a date night, family get-togethers, corporate dinners, and more. At least during dinnertimes, the place is always packed-- weekday or weekend, and reservations are a must. PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity.
Stepping into the small rowhome style, bustling space that is Giorgio's my immediate impression was "old school south Philly". That's a very good thing btw- and they did not disappoint. We managed to squeeze our group of six into the two table space which was preset with plates and wine glasses and were off to the races. Conversation and wine flowed freely in this BYOB, and it was good we were sitting close together as the same could be said for every other table. Like a big family dinner. You have to place the entire order at once - and we went family style. Throw everything on the table and pass it around. Rustic Italian fare - well executed, good portions made that easy. The food was great -- not the haute cuisine level -- more like the comfort food style I experienced "back in the day". Did someone say dessert? Of course! 3 went far with 6 of us. Service that was spot on, friendly and timely. An owner making the rounds to insure everything and everyone was just right. The bill for this little slice of paradise on a cold and wet Friday evening was about $45 a head all in. What's not to like? They made the shortlist for future rendevous...
